Piranha Arts is an innovative, Berlin-based creative organization committed to celebrating diversity and challenging discrimination through art and culture. Founded in 1987, the company began with the German live debut of Memphis Soul Man Rufus Thomas and the release of its first vinyl LP, ‘Beat! Apartheid’. Since then, Piranha Arts has evolved into a prominent cultural force, organizing groundbreaking events and festivals like the Karneval der Kulturen, which is renowned as Berlin’s largest annual celebration of cultural diversity. The company’s mission is to foster an open and inclusive society by uniting a wide array of cultures, arts, and languages through dynamic, sometimes provocative, yet always unique artistic expressions.

Piranha Arts operates both locally and globally with a dedicated team of around twenty professionals. The company is also known for its influential music showcase, WOMEX, which has been a pivotal networking platform for world music professionals since 1994.
